Team Maanch Attends Davos 2020: World Economic Forum Updates

Team Maanch
January 22, 2020

“Our house is still on fire. Your inaction is fueling the flames by the hour” – Greta Thunberg

There are close to 3,000 people from 117 countries participating in the World Economic Forum’s 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland this year. Only 24% of participants are women. This year one of those women is Darshita Gillies, Maanch Founder & CEO. The WEF20 Annual Meeting is the foremost creative force for engaging the world’s top leaders in collaborative activities to shape global, regional and industry agendas at the beginning of each year. The theme of the WEF 2020 meeting is ‘Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World’.

While in Davos, Darshita will attend key sessions around the following topics:

  • Women’s Empowerment – Darshita will be attending a series of  sessions dedicated to engaging women including ‘Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Globally,’  the ‘100,000 Women Campaign’ launch with Cheri Blair Foundation, & ‘Women’s Leadership in SDGs.
  • Technology to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) – Our focus in Davos is on the SDG’s, where we are attending a series of sessions such as ‘Metrics Accountability to Reach the SDG’s,’ which Darshita will speak, & ‘Partnerships for the SDG’s: Leveraging Scalable Technologies.
  • Driving Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration – Finally, we aim to examine the role of philanthropy in activating multi-stakeholder capitalism throughout the coming decade in order to make a real difference. Darshita will attend a series of sessions highlighting the importance of collaborative learning including: ‘The Values Compass: Shifting the Focus from the Individual Self to our Global Family.’

We hope Maanch’s attendance at #WEF20 in Davos will give our team & the philanthropy ecosystem at large the knowledge and tools to overcome current global challenges: The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) & give us an understanding of how technology can enable us to consolidate the impact of fragmented philanthropic efforts around the world.
